2010-10-01 · Thymoma is a rare tumor, although it is the most common primary neoplasm of the anterior mediastinum. In the majority of thymoma patients, imaging is requested for investigation of symptoms related to their tumor, although an increasing number of asymptomatic patients are discovered incidentally due to the increased utilization of computed tomography for screening or for imaging of other

The normal thymus is visualized in the cranioventral mediastinum in young dogs as an inverted wedge shape known as a “sail sign” (Figure 1 ). It is usually inconspicuous by 1 year of age because of thymic involution.1. Figure 1.

The causal relationship between thymoma and most of these diseases is not well understood. Myasthenia gravis affects one-third to one-half of all thymoma patients, whereas 10%–20% of myasthenia gravis patients have thymoma (, Fig 3) (, 20). In spite of the frequent association between thymoma and myasthenia gravis, the mechanism of the

Clinical, radiologic, and pathologic findings were noted. RESULTS: The masses occurred in 15 male and 12 female patients (mean age, 26.7 years). All 27 tumors were in the anterior mediastinum; 22 were in the anterior inferior mediastinum. 66 year old woman with WHO type AB thymoma with atypical type A component and metastatses (J Thorac Dis 2017;9:E808) 67 year old man with incidental 2 cm nodule in the right paratracheal region (BMC Res Notes 2018;11:256) 70 year old woman with with WHO type B2 thymoma and a separate B3 thymoma (Int Cancer Conf J 2016;5:158) with thymoma than in dogs with other CMMs.8 Compared with thoracic radiographs, computed tomography (CT) has the benefits of increased contrast resolution and lack of anatomic superimpo-sition. As a result, CT has been demonstrated to provide valuable additional information about the anatomic extent and distribution From 1973 through 1986, 154 consecutive patients who had a transsternal thymectomy for myasthenia gravis had preoperative radiologic evaluation for a possible thymoma.

Although it can occur at any age, most patients are older than 40 years at the presentation. They are usually located anteriorly to the aortic arch but can occur in cardiophrenic angle. The tumor is a thymoma of the cortical type.

Thymoma is the most common primary tumor of anterior mediastinum and accounts for 20% of all mediastinal tumors. Although it can occur at any age, most patients are older than 40 years at the presentation. They are usually located anteriorly to the aortic arch but can occur in cardiophrenic angle.

Patients with thymoma are typically adult men and women who usually present after the age of 40 years (in the fifth and sixth decades of life), although all age groups are affected. While many patients with thymoma are asymptomatic, approximately one-third present with chest pain, cough, dyspnea, and/or symptoms related to local invasion by the tumor (including superior vena cava syndrome).

The thymus, a small organ that lies in the upper chest under the breastbone, is part of the lymph system. It makes white blood cells, called lymphocytes, that protect the body against infections. We present the case of a 28‐year‐old woman with thymoma who developed severe progressive thymoma‐associated constrictive bronchiolitis with bronchiectasis and a radiation‐induced organizing pneumonia Cases. By sharing our collective experience through interesting patient cases, we can make a real difference in how people are imaged and diagnosed.

They are usually located anteriorly to the aortic arch but can occur in cardiophrenic angle. The most common radiologic manifestation is a rounded, soft-tissue mass of the anterior superior mediastinum. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging typically show a prevascular mediastinal mass of variable size and may be helpful in the evaluation of adjacent structures in cases of invasive thymoma. This is a good case to practice the approach for anterior mediastinal masses differentials. Feedback from the referring team confirmed it to represent thymoma.
